Task 4- Comparison of Soap Opera Episodes

As a group we created a document comparing the key conventions found in soap opera that we watched. The group and I looked at Eastenders, Hollyoaks, Emmerdale Coronation Street. We had to focus on similar storylines, similar characters and similar settings.

Task 3- Analysis of Soap Opera Episodes

For this task I had to analyse 2 soap opera episodes, I looked at Eastenders and Emmerdale. I was given a handout to comeplete, this focused on plots, characters, settings and target audience. From this I found that Eastenders and Emmerdale are very simular, although they have different sponsers and they are set in a different area.

This task was closely related to task 1. I had to expand my ideas and focus on the specifics. Included on this mind map were ideas based around target audiences for soap operas, typical characters found in soap operas, typical settings for soap operas, places found in soap operas and examples from soaps operas on at the moment.
